Date(s) of Stay:

8/23/01-8/28/01

Standard Room / Studio

Accommodations Review:

The room was pretty spacious and comfortable. We could have used more drawer space. The beds were comfortable, the room and bathroom were clean and in good condition. The room seemed a little dark, though.

Standard room, two double beds, small table with two chairs, Armoire with television and several drawers, two sinks outside bathroom, a luggage rack, a nightstand. There was a handy shelf above the open closet area near the sinks, as well as one running above the sinks. There was a safe. The decor was attractive, traditional.

Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?

I wanted a moderate resort and the theming of this one sounded attractive.

Room # and Location Description:

Forgot the room number. Magnolia Bend, Parterre Place. We were on the ground floor in a shady area.

Room Location Pros & Cons:

We were only a short walk down the path and over a bridge to the main building with the food court and a little further along, the bus stops. We were very close to a large, beautiful pool.

Check-In / Check-Out Comments:

Check in was smooth. We arrived around noon and had no trouble getting our room. A nice young man drove us and our luggage there in one of those little carts. Our request for a refrigerator, phoned by me to central reservation a couple of days before, had not found its way to the resort, in spite of the assurance I had received on the phone. When we came back to the room that evening, the fridge was there.

WDW Transportation Comments:

We had not rented a car and used only Disney transport. For the most part, it was good. There were one or two occasions that we waited longer than 15 minutes for a bus, but mostly they arrived quickly. The bus stops for this hotel at almost every park were the furthest away from the gate. The location appears to be central - it seemed we weren't more than 10-15 minutes from anywhere. We took the boat back to Riverside from Downtown Disney one night- it was a pretty long ride, and the line was long. Would have been nice if we hadn't been exhausted.

Restaurant / Lounge Review:

We only used the food court, and in spite of not being meat eaters we had no trouble getting a nice breakfast every day even though every item seemed to include breakfast meat of one kind or another. There was some expensive fruit available. The scrambled eggs weren't great. However, it is a lovely, spacious food court with a pretty view. The biscuits were out of this world. The pizza was very good one night when we were too tired to fuss about dinner. The French toast, pancakes, and grits were good, too.

Pool Description / Comments:

We only used the pool near our room and only once in the late afternoon. It was as warm as a bathtub, not refreshing, but not very crowded and very pretty.

What Suggestions Would you Give Anyone that is Considering This Resort?

I would stay here again, except that I'd like to try the other moderate resorts. I think I would ask for a room with a little more natural light. And I would try to schedule a longer stay so that I could enjoy the pools, the bike and boat rental, and just walking around, because it really is a beautiful place. The river is lovely and soothing to watch, the landscaping and architecture is great.

Other Comments:

Just sorry we didn't have time to fully use the facilities here - we hadn't been to WDW in 20 years and my daughter had never been so we were pretty busy just seeing the parks. While we were there there was a lot of outside painting going on around our building, however, it was not an inconvenience in spite of having to walk around a painter a couple of times. We enjoyed watching the brown bunnies that seemed to be everywhere, and my daughter enjoyed feeding the fish and ducks on the river behind the food court. The gift shop was large and comprehensive, the staff of the resort pleasant and helpful.
