Accommodations Review:

The first night, our family stayed in the Hawaii building, which is a concierge building. Because we were meeting family who were not staying at the Polynesian on the Grand Plan, we moved to the Tahiti building so that we could have adjoining rooms. We retained our concierge privileges, however, which was *very* nice (snacks were available and arrangements could be made conveniently for us). We found that the rooms were larger in the Tahiti building too. Our immediate family consists of two adults, a teenager, 4-year-old twins, and a not-quite-3-year-old. Next door were my 80-year-old parents who came to vacation with the grandkids. Even with a crib in the room for the little one, we did not feel cramped. The two queen beds and daybed were very adequate. Our room also had a refrigerator, which was very convenient. The Tahiti building is close to the TTC, if you wanted to take a boat over to the MK or if you wanted to catch buses or take the monorail to Epcot. The monorail to the MK also stops at the Polynesian, so the place has location, location, location. We found the themeing in the room was wonderful. The entire atmosphere of the Polynesian was just perfect for us. We often spent the afternoons at the resort when we were maxed out on people in the theme parks. We loved the pool that had the underwater music. The beach was nice and never crowded. Our room had a view of the MK, so we could see the fireworks and the water pageant. During the days, we would take the little water mouse boats out on the lagoon (a big favorite of the teenager). The twins spent an evening or two at the Neverland Club, and that was a very nice place for childcare; they had a very good time there. We also had in-room sitters for the youngest child, because she was too young for the Neverland Club; the sitters couldn't have been nicer! It was nice to have some 'grownup' time going to the MK for E nights! The Polynesian was an absolutely perfect place.

Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?

Location, location, location, and atmosphere! We have young children and aged grandparents (who also had an electric wheelchair), so we didn't want to have to stay all day in crowded parks. We wanted close proximity to the parks, though. We wanted a relaxing atmosphere that was conducive to a vacation. We got it!

Room # and Location Description:

The room in the Hawaii building faced the MK across the lagoon. The room in the Tahiti building was on the top floor and had a wonderful view of the MK (you could also see the Contemporary and Grand Floridian from the room). The beach directly below was 'groomed' every day to picture perfection.

Room Location Pros & Cons:

We were fairly close to the elevator, so going getting to/from the room was easy. The building was close to the TTC, so that was very convenient. I can't think of any cons to the location.

Check-In / Check-Out Comments:

There was no late check-in for concierge guests, which was somewhat disappointing, especially after a very hard flight (which included a five-hour delay in Denver due to weather). However, because it was so late, there was not much delay in getting checked in at the main desk. Our baggage was whisked to our room and was always handled capably by the staff. Checkout was a little tricky because we had ended our stay on the Grand Plan the day prior to our departure, so there were some accounting difficulties as we made our final checkout.

WDW Transportation Comments:

Everything worked wonderfully. We had a choice of taking a boat or the monorail to the MK. We were close to the TTC to take the monorail to Epcot or the buses to other parks. It was easy to get everywhere.

Restaurant / Lounge Review:

We loved the Luau show; it was great fun and good food. The Tongan Toast was the highlight of room service for breakfast! That was the best! The character breakfast at Ohanas was nice.

Pool Description / Comments:

We loved the pool that had the underwater music and the water slide. It was nice to have a toddler pool there too, even though that pool was not particularly advertised. We visited over spring break, typically a busy time, but the pools never seemed too crowded.

What Suggestions Would you Give Anyone that is Considering This Resort?

Go and enjoy it! Aloha!!
