Wilderness Lodge

Reviewer's Name:

Rate / Night (for your stay):

I got a cast member discount (after 10000 calls) for less than $100 a night.

Date(s) of Stay:

August 1997

Accommodation Used:

Standard Room / Studio

Accommodations Review:

I requested a "woods view", to keep cost down and to possibly get a glimpse of castle (which I did-all done up in pink birthday frosting).

Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?

My son was 12 and we thought the theming would appeal to him, which it did, of course.

Room # and Location Description:

We were on the 6th floor overlooking the waterway which connects Bay Lake to Seven Seas Lagoon. Room itself is rather small for the $$, but I'd heard the WL was originally designed as a moderate-price hotel.

Room Location Pros & Cons:

I would recommend this view. It's quiet and peaceful and lends to the atmosphere of being in the wilds of Canada. The price is more $ than a parking lot view but less than a courtyard or water view.

Check-In / Check-Out Comments:

This hotel has the most gracious and helpful of all cast members in the Disney hotels today. We were greeted with smiles and helpful hints. Let's just say "they try harder" at WL.

WDW Transportation Comments:

We had our car that trip. For MGM and Epcot we drove ourselves. For the Magic Kingdom, we totally enjoyed the water launch from our dock.

Restaurant / Lounge Review:

Delicious food at Artist's Point and the most fun around at the Whispering Canyon Cafe. Food was delicious and fresh.

Pool Description / Comments:

The pool was my big disappointment of the place. I felt it was not big enough and had no shade around it. Talk about baking in the sun! But my son and husband enjoyed the slide very much.

What Suggestions Would you Give Anyone that is Considering This Resort?

This resort is one of my favorites, especially if you have children. The cast members make it especially enjoyable.

Other Comments:

It was on this trip that we stayed 3 nights at WL and then got in our car and checked into the Yacht Club for 7 more nights. What a trip. But more about Yacht Club in next review...
