rate for cast members ($129 for water view)

Date(s) of Stay:

August 1997

Accommodation Used:

Standard Room / Studio

Accommodations Review:

My best friend was a cast member and signed us in for this special rate. I worked very hard several months to obtain this rate and room location. Our first room (yes, you read it right) was 4th floor, facing lighthouse. I noticed scaffolding below and called front desk about it. Was told not to worry. Guess what? I started to worry when, after coming in from a swim I was face-to-face with 2 workers peering in on me. Room no. 2 was farthest away from lobby (near Yacht's quiet pool side) but still facing Epcot/Illuminations. Room is very nice, nautical design, great views.

Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?

I wanted the Beach Club but there was no availability for cast member discount. I liked the pool area and location for Epcot as well.

Room # and Location Description:

Room no. 2 was more secluded, as trees partially blocked our view (and of others flying down boardwalk on those bicycle-things). The Yacht quiet pool is lovely and close by, with a laundry room as well.

Room Location Pros & Cons:

I did not like moving from one room to the other, and it didn't help that the cast members at this hotel were not nice at all. They had an attitude about the fact that I had a cast member discount and was upset over the scaffolding ("You should not complain about it, since you have a water view, madam" was what I was told.

Check-In / Check-Out Comments:

These people are the rudest on Disney property, and a far cry from the tender, loving care received by Wilderness Lodge cast members. I feel they cater to international travelers (most of the front desk cast members were from other countries).

WDW Transportation Comments:

Love the boat launches for Epcot (if you don't want to walk) and for the Studios. We drove in our car to Magic Kingdom.

Restaurant / Lounge Review:

Yachtsman's Steakhouse is fabulous as was the Yacht Club Galley. Food is fresh and delicious. Lounge is quiet and beautiful. Nice to be able to walk right into Beach Club lobby.

Pool Description / Comments:

The best pool on Disney property. Sandy bottoms, whirlpools, exciting water slide, peaceful coves, and waterfalls all add up to a fantastic experience.

What Suggestions Would you Give Anyone that is Considering This Resort?

The price for a water-view room is high; but the garden-view rooms are lovely. The pool really sells this place, as does the proximity to Epcot. Just don't have a query, question or a problem for the front desk. They're NOT NICE!

Other Comments:

This was one of the most relaxing vacations we had. After all, it was 10 days of bliss!
