All four of us really enjoyed this hotel. We look forward to staying
there again. |
Why Did you Select This Resort for your Stay?
|
We chose it because it offered special rates for a convention my
wife was attending. |
Room # and Location Description:
|
The room was on the first floor, facing Crescent Lake, just past
the boat dock, at the end of the hotel farthest from Epcot. It was
good-sized, with two queen beds, a comfortable daybed and a sliding
glass door that led to a patio. The decor was comfortable and, unlike
many of the Disney hotels, muted. Soundproofing is excellent; we heard
no noise at all from the rooms on either side or above us. There are
double sinks in an alcove outside the bathroom. |
Room Location Pros & Cons:
|
We really loved the view from the room. We looked out across a lawn
onto a boardwalk on which people rode rented bicycles and pedal-powered
surreys. The boardwalk was attractively shaded by trees. It was very
relaxing and New England-y, not what you might expect from a Disney
hotel. The room was convenient to Stormalong Bay and the quiet pool,
but a fair distance from the main lobby and the bus stops. |
Check-In / Check-Out Comments:
|
We were checked in immediately--no wait--and we did the automatic
checkout by having them send a bill to the room the morning we left.
They allow you to run up additional charges on the room (restaurants,
phone calls, etc.) right up till you leave Disney World, which makes
it convenient to check out without going through the front desk. |
WDW Transportation Comments:
|
The transportation was pretty efficient, with one exception: it
took forever to get away from Disney-MGM after the Fantasmic show.
They didn't seem to have enough boats and had to have some empty and
circle back after the stated 9:30 end to transportation. For the buses,
we never had to wait more than 10 minutes. Two warnings: if you plan
to spend most of your time at the Magic Kingdom stay at a monorail
hotel, it's much faster getting back and forth. Also, while the hotel
is in walking distance of Epcot, you enter through the World Showcase
and it's still a fair walk to the area where most of the rides are. |
Restaurant / Lounge Review:
|
We ate twice at Beaches and Cream. The burgers, fries and steak
sandwiches were very good. So were the ice cream desserts. We used
room service four times, because on some nights we were too tired
to go out to eat. The food was good and so was the selection. But
except for the pizzas, it was expensive. |
Pool Description / Comments:
|
Stormalong Bay is lots of fun but it gets very crowded, and my daughter
and wife are serious swimmers, so we spent most of our pool time at
the quiet pool. It's open late--I think till midnight--and we really
enjoyed 10 p.m. swimming and hot-tubbing there before bed. |
