Animal Kingdom - Oasis
There is only one (1) -- read it "O.N.E." full-service restaurant at this
park...and it's not even located IN the park. The Rainforest Cafe is a good
restaurant with a large selection of menu items, but it's not unique to Walt Disney
World. In fact, the Cafe isn't even unique WITHIN Walt Disney World since there's
another one at the Marketplace in Downtown Disney.
Instead of providing what could have been a great variety of unique specialty
full-service restaurants, Disney decided to do the zoo thing here and offer a plethora of
fast food places instead. Granted, the fast food in this park is upscale (read
"expensive"), but it doesn't cover the lack of unique dining options that could
have been provided. I suppose the lack of full-service restaurants may be due to a
concern that the parks odd hours (opening early and generally closing late) would affect
potential profits. Another concern might have been that the typical zoo visitor
might not want to spend money on a fancy meal. I wish that, when designing the food
venues here, the park's designers (are you listening Joe Rhode?) had followed Walt's
adage that if you provide quality and a unique experience people will come...

Brian's Review
This is one of a chain of restaurants themed to resemble a rainforest environment.
The restaurants are consistently great in the areas of selection and food quality,
but tend to fall off somewhat in speed and diligence of service. Of course, that is
not a problem that is unique to non-Disney restaurants, since some of Disney's own
restaurants have very poor reputations for such things. If you are interested in
full-service, this is it at this park (and fairly priced). If you like to choose
from a huge list of options, the Rainforest is your place. If you like a unique
atmosphere for your dining enjoyment...stop in.
