Food Review:
|
The fruit and cheese plate appetizer is
one of my particular favorites. For our entree, in September
of 1998, I enjoyed the prime rib (with Yorkshire pudding). |
Service Review:
|
Service at Rose & Crown is
inconsistent. Sometimes you hit on a server that is
fantastic and very personable. Other times, the wait staff
is slow and uninspired. |
Atmosphere Review:
|
The Rose and Crown is located across
from the rest of the United Kingdom pavilion on the shore of the
World Showcase lagoon. On the water side of the restaurant is a
recreation of a canal lock, reminiscent of Lancashire's' many
canals. Sea gulls frequent the area, and guests are reminded (via
several signs) to refrain from feeding the buggers. There are two
terraced rows of tables outside the pub building with several
tables inside. It's not spectacular, but very pleasant.
You may want to time your priority seating time so that you can
watch IllumiNations from your table. It's a wonderful
way to end an evening at Epcot! |
Other Comments:

As far as the menu is concerned, the
fish and chips are great, the prime rib very good, and the cottage
pie excellent. Oh, and the trifle, a cake and pudding desert (with
a touch of sherry), is a must eat!
Regarding the wait times in September of 1998, keep in mind
that there was a large amount of rain during that particular trip.
That made seating a problem, since only a handful of tables at
Rose & Crown are inside or under rain cover. On the
evening of our first dinner at Rose & Crown, the rain was so
strong that probably 50% of the outdoor tables could not be used.
It definitely affected the time for seating. |
