Priority Seating / Reservations Comments: |
Reservations made in the morning for
dinner that night (7 PM). No problems. |
Time of Wait: |
25 minutes. Might have been shorter had
we had fewer in our party. |
Food Review: |
Several of us had the Filet Mutilano as
an entree, one had a Plato Mexicano, another had Ribeye Tampique and
all were very, very good. Here again, the portions are HUGE and few
of us could finish. The Soup--Sopa Azteca--was also tasty but the
Flan for dessert was disappointing....it was in the oven a bit too long. Although
it did have a nice flavor. The 2 children in the
party (ages 3 and 6) had Beef Burritos which were predictably good. Overall, I would give this restaurant an A rating. |
Service Review: |
Service was attentive and our waiter was
pleasant and accommodating. |
Atmosphere Review: |
Dimmed, evening atmosphere with back
lighting on an erupting volcano. Very attractive and
different. |
Other Comments: |
At approximately $72 per person, this is
not an inexpensive restaurant but compared to some of the other
expensive Disney restaurants, San Angel comes closer to giving you
more value for the high tariff. We were on a Discovery Magic package
plan and this restaurant was included in that plan so price was not
considered in our selections. It is possible to eat at this
restaurant for less, I'm sure, than what our bill came to although I
think it would still be classified as "expensive" in Disney
parlance. My only comment in regard to these sit-down dinner restaurants
is the size of the food portions which are huge.
Granted, many people have hearty appetites but for those of us who
enjoy quality and are less concerned with quantity, I would like to
see smaller portions offered at a lesser price. For example, the
filet in the Filet Motulano was at least 8 oz. to 10 oz. and was IN
ADDITION to a large flour tortilla stuffed with cheese and covered
with sauce. There was also a generous serving of refried beans on
the plate. All were delicious but it was still a big pile of food!
