Dinner Shows

Among Walt Disney World's most-loved entertainment are the dinner shows that are held at several different places about the resort complex.  You can make the required reservations for any of these events by simply calling the regular priority seating number (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463.   Be aware, too, that the various show times are often filled up months in advance.  If you really want to enjoy a dinner show, don't delay!

Cost for the various shows vary, but is approximately $40-50 for each adult and about $25 for each child (after you've paid tax and gratuity).  Children under four are admitted for free.

Mickey's Backyard Bar-B-Que

The Show

The Mickey's Backyard Bar-B-Que is held in the great out-of-doors, near Pioneer Hall.  It is run only during the summer when an overflow for the usually-booked Hoop Dee Doo is needed.  Country music and a lot of characters provide the atmosphere.

The Meal

The food includes ribs, chicken, burgers, hot dogs, ribs, corn bread, barbecue beans and more served buffet style.

Reservations are required and can be arranged through Disney dining reservations at (407) WDW-DINE (939-3463). Adults, $37; children (3-11), $25. Pricing includes tax and gratuity.

The Venue

The Bar-B-Que is also held at Fort Wilderness, right near Pioneer Hall.

Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue

The Show

The show is a frantic mix of vaudeville, slapstick, and music rolled into a wild west frontier package.  The show is truly extraordinary.  There are three shows each night at 5:00pm, 7:15pm, and 9:30pm. Each performance lasts 2 hours.

The Meal

Bar-B-Que ribs, fried chicken, corn on the cob, and strawberry shortcake round out the meal.

Reservations are required and can be arranged through Disney dining reservations at (407) WDW-DINE (939-3463). Adults, $47.80; children (3-10), $24.81. Pricing DOES include tax and gratuity.

The Venue

The Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review is held at Pioneer Hall at Fort Wilderness.   The Hall was built especially for the Hoop Dee Doo and has a stage at the front of the room, with tables on floor level with additional tables in a balcony that overlooks the main floor.  People with the earliest-made reservations are rewarded with tables that are closest to the front and center of the action.

Polynesian Luau

The Show

The luau consists of two parts.  Just after everyone is seated, and during the meal itself, a Polynesian "fashion show" is held in which the luau performers model authentic clothing of the various Polynesian nations or islands.  As the modeling is done, a narrator describes the significance of the styles, colors, and so on.   The second part of the show, which starts after the meal is complete, is very much like the luau shows that you might have seen on television or film.  Several dances (again, unique to each Polynesian nation) are performed including the famous fire dance.

The performers at the luau are all graduates of the Polynesian Cultural Center in Hawaii.  Authenticity, as well as entertainment, are hallmarks of the show.

(Note:  Cindy reported that the Luau is not run on Sunday and Monday evenings.)

The Meal

The food at the luau is good, abundant, and (from what I understand) not very authentic.  The meal consists of grilled meats, fruits.

Reservations are required and can be arranged through Disney dining reservations at (407) WDW-DINE (939-3463). Adults, $46.33; children (3-11), $23.78. Pricing does NOT include tax and gratuity.

The Venue

The Luau is held at the Polynesian Resort at Luau Cove, on the lagoon and to the far Western end of the resort (towards the Grand Floridian).  Since Luau Cove is an outdoor venue, the Polynesian Luau may be cancelled in cold or inclement weather.

Wonderland Tea Party

The Show

The tea party is run only on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 1:30pm.  The party includes stories (all on the Alice in Wonderland theme), games, and other activities.

Lunch is provided, and desert is cupcakes that the kids themselves decorate.

Reservations are required and can be arranged through Disney dining reservations at (407) WDW-DINE (939-3463). Children (3-10), $24.95. Pricing does NOT include tax and gratuity.

The Venue

The party is held at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
