Your "server" gives you an orientation of the buffet, provides beverages and refills, and brings back the bill at the end of the meal.  Otherwise, it's all self- serve.

Brian's Review

I've only visited Boma once, but it was was a fantastic experience -- and it won't be our last visit by any means!  The food was excellent and a bit exotic (but not overly so... finicky eaters will still find plenty of options that are sufficiently mainstream that they won't starve).  There were several meats (prime rib, lamb, chicken), African salads and relishes (the Egyptian apple salad was great, and several pasta dishes were unusual -- but good), side dishes (the couscous was excellent, roasted and mashed potatoes and French fries were available, too), and a desert bar that was not to be believed!

The Desert Bar includes the two tables shown, plus one to the left that couldn't be fit into the picture! (Photo by Brian Bennett)

Dinner took quite a bit of time, we weren't hurried at all even though there was obviously a line of folks to be seated.  Our bill, for a family with a one- year- old, four- year- old, a two adults set us back $58.00 including tax and tip -- and did not include any adult beverages.

The Mara is the resort's snack bar.  It offers up a pretty typical salads, pizza, burgers and fries and sandwiches fare, at prices that are very likely higher than you'd find at a deli at home, but much less pricey than Boma or Jiko.

Menu

  • Cuisine: American

  • Sample Items: for Breakfast: Waffles, Bagel Sandwiches, French Toast, Fruits, Omelets, Pastries; for Lunch and Dinner: Salads, Pizza, Burgers, Grilled Chicken Sandwiches, Fish & Chips, Hot Dogs, etc.

  • Prices: Inexpensive
