Priority Seating / Reservations Comments:
|
We usually just walk-in at Artist
Point. We may get priority seating, just to be sure, but I
don't remember the restaurant ever being so busy at dinner time
that a wait would be expected. |
Time of Wait:
|
We've never had a lengthy wait even
without priority seating (I wouldn't recommend this for character
meals, though, of course.) |
Food Review:
|
1998: Without doubt, the best
steak in all of WDW can be found here. Usually. When we got our
menu, it wasn't there. Barb was going to choose an
alternative, but when the waiter came to take our order, I asked
if the New York Strip was still available. It was...it just
wasn't not on the menu. So Barb ordered the New York and I
ordered maple glazed salmon grilled on a piece of cedar wood
(something I'd read about in a trip report). As always, all
the food was excellent!
1996: We both passed on appetizers and salad. Barb
ordered the porterhouse steak and I had -- get this -- buffalo
sirloin. Both were absolutely wonderful. I still think that
Artist's Point serves the best steak at Walt Disney World, much
better even than the Yachtsman's Steakhouse we ate at several
trips ago. The buffalo was very tender, but didn't taste
significantly different from the beef. It was perhaps a bit more
firm in texture, but was still very tender. We passed on desert as
well (just too full).
1995: We had the best steaks we've ever had at a Disney
restaurant there. They also serve game selections that we passed
over for the domestic beef. |
Service Review:
|
The service at Artist Point is
consistently good, without being overbearing. You never have
to wait long for anything you might need, but you don't have wait
staff hovering over you like mother hens, either. It's a
very nice compromise, and very relaxing. |
Atmosphere Review:
|
Artist Point is located at Wilderness
Lodge. The resort themeing itself sets the stage for the
meal with the pine scent of the north woods that makes me think of
Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The Lodge itself is a gorgeous
structure, timber-framed (at least in appearance) with massive
wooden columns, a field stone fireplace, and a lovely rustic
feeling. There are several restaurants there.
Artist's Point, a lovely, airy, bright restaurant with a nice view
of the outdoor theme "lake" at the hotel. |
Other Comments:
|
I don't know what else to say about
Artist Point except that it is a very relaxing, very consistent
restaurant. Enjoy the buffalo sirloin or one of the game
selections! The maple glazed salmon, New York strip, and
buffalo sirloin are very, very good. |
