Priority Seating / Reservations Comments: |
We arrived about 10 minutes before our specified priority seating time and were
given a pager. We then had the
opportunity to walk around this new resort. The detail was incredible and the time until our pager went off
flew by. Be sure to
check out the wonderful thatch roofs that cover the entire resort
and the savanna that features Gazelles, Impalas and more. |
Time of Wait: |
We waited ten minutes for our table to
become available. Once we returned our pager, our hostess gave us a
brief tour of the buffet in a similar style to, although not as
long as, 'Ohana at Disney's Polynesian Resort. |
Food Review: |
The food at "The Boma" as the Hosts and
Hostesses refer to it is incredible. There are several stations
along the buffet including a salad station with a lovely selection
of freshly prepared vinaigrettes; a soup station featuring a very
spicy and delicious plantain stew, a grains station with a marvelous
"Fufu" which the Host who was stocking the station said was Swahili
for "smashed potatoes," a meat station with some of the best curry
I've had in a long time, and a dessert station that you simply must
scout out ahead of time so that you know what to leave room for! The
Buffet also features Spaghetti and Meatballs, Mac and Cheese, French
Fries and Fried Chicken for the little ones and the not-so
adventurous. |
Service Review: |
Our Host Michael was wonderful at
answering all of our questions. He gave us an overview of what the
buffet offered, where to find everything and gave us a preview of
the specialties that are offered. He also explained that the chef's
are experimenting with new menu items constantly, so subsequent
visits to the Boma might have some surprises in store! |
Atmosphere Review: |
The Boma has a wonderful use of depth.
The restaurant is located next to the lobby, and the dining area
opens out into the Victoria Falls Lounge and some of the guest
floors. One can get lost in the artistry simply by looking up! The
outside wall features large windows that face the savanna. Dining at
the Boma is a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach! |
Other Comments: |
Be sure to get a priority seating for
dinner, especially if you are not an AK Lodge guest. Security checks
the priority seating lists before giving you a parking pass and
allowing you into the resort. Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is
located about five minutes past Disney's Animal Kingdom on the
Osceola Parkway, so be sure to allow yourself at least 20-30 minutes
to travel from the Magic Kingdom or Epcot Resort Areas especially if
you are not familiar with driving around the resort. To get to Boma
from a theme park, board the Animal Kingdom Lodge bus. To get there
from another resort, board the Downtown Disney bus, then transfer to
the Animal Kingdom Lodge bus at any of the three Downtown Disney
stops. |
