Food Review: |
This is a gourmet establishment. I would
rate it among the finest places I have ever been to....seriously.
The food is excellent. One might notice that there are no salt and
pepper shakers on the table. That is because the food is served as
the chef has intended. At this particular meal, I had the Caesar salad (I recommend this salad at this restaurant) and the
butterflied pork chop and my wife had a salad with Maytag Bleu
Cheese and the grilled mahi mahi. My daughter had the battered fish
filets (which were also good...I had a bite) I did start dinner off
with a Cosmopolitan; my wife had an Amstel Light. In previous trips
here, I have had the Grilled Swordfish with Risotto (I recommend
this when it is on the menu) and my wife has had the New York Strip
(her favorite). |
Service Review: |
If you dine here, ask for Frankie or his
wife Terri. They are - without a doubt - the BEST servers that one
could ask for. The food is hot, the drinks are cold, and they always
have a smile and check on you to make sure your dining experience is
pleasurable. When spending this amount of money at a WDW
restaurant, the last thing you'd want is a bad experience. We
usually dine at the Flying Fish at least twice per trip, and have
never had a bad experience dating back to our first time in 1997.

Atmosphere Review: |
The atmosphere is elegant. I'd recommend
not wearing shorts to dinner. Resort casual is the best way to go to
feel comfortable and yet not under-dressed. Several of the people
dining when we were there were also staying at either the Boardwalk
or nearby at the Swan, Dolphin, or Yacht and Beach Clubs. The
restaurant was created for a gourmet dining experience, and the
atmosphere projects that. If you're a picky eater, or don't like
trying different foods, this is probably not a place you'd like. It
is also not a place you want to walk into after a long, hot day at
the parks. I'd recommend a quick freshening up at your room first
prior to dinner here. The name "Flying Fish Cafe" is quite a
misnomer. It should be called the "Flying Fish Gourmet Restaurant."
I'd also not recommend taking small children, unless they've had
their "nap" and can behave. You wouldn't want to ruin a nice evening
out. Also note that the daycare center for guests staying at the
Boardwalk Villas is about 100 feet away. |
Other Comments: |
As I mentioned, we have never had a bad
dining experience here. We've had reservations at other places- both
on and off Disney property- and always compare them to the Flying
Fish Cafe.
