Food Review:

The food was excellent and very elegant. We decided on the Grand Tea which came with champagne with a strawberry (we don't drink alcohol but we ate the strawberry), our choice of tea (we chose Darjeeling), and finger sandwiches (smoked salmon, egg salad, watercress and cucumber, and chicken salad with almonds, served with a tomato tartlet and crab on a crostini. After the sandwiches they bring you a white currant scone with strawberry jam and Devon shire cream (imported from Devon per our server Dorothy) and a jam tart, then you have your choice of trifle or two miniature pastries. We chose the pastries: I had a chocolate éclair and the chocolate mousse and my sister had a raspberry mousse cream puff (shaped like a swan) and a chocolate cake with apricot filling. The meal was surprisingly filling--we couldn't finish our pastries. They have many options on their menu if you don't want to go all out. They even have a kid's choice with hot chocolate instead of tea.

Service Review:

Service was impeccable. Our server, Dorothy, was very knowledgeable and efficient--kind of like a bustling Mary Poppins.

Atmosphere Review:

The Lounge was lovely. It was very small with maybe 20 tables (the majority of which seated two people). The Lounge overlooked the pool and some beautiful landscaping. It was cool, quiet, and very relaxing. Even though the setting was very elegant, it was not stuffy or fussy. There were quite a few families there with children.

Other Comments:

I booked this tea solely for my sister. I had been dreading it because I am not a tea drinker and I was afraid it would be very stiff and formal. This was the most pleasant surprise of the trip. What I thought would be a stuffy, boring experience turned out to be one of the most tranquil and relaxing times we had. I would highly recommend this for a relaxing afternoon.
