Food Review: |
For appetizers: flatbread with bacon and
curry sauce cooked in the Cooking Place ovens (very good if you like
bacon) and a corn tamale that was very different but also very good.
Entrees: I had the spice-crusted cod with eggplant caviar and a
bunch of those little spring potatoes; it was some of the best fish
I ever had because I liked the fish with the eggplant very much. My
mom tried the papaya stuffed with beef, which I tried. It's very
interesting, and she liked it, but I preferred the fish. For dessert
we had a mango tart with almonds and apple cake (both were good -
note that an apple cake is not a cake with apples in it but a cake
made out of apple slices.) |
Service Review: |
We got a tour of the restaurant and heard
about its decor, the origin of the "cooking place" with its open
ovens, and the South African wines. Our server, Mike, was excellent
- very attentive. |
Atmosphere Review: |
This is a beautiful restaurant, and it's
also interesting to have someone take you around and explain to you
about the layout and the decor. |

I am looking forward to going there and
trying another fish
dish! |
