Food Review: |
After having Grilled Swordfish and risotto at the Flying Fish, the grilled mahi mahi and wild rice
didn't cut it. The rice was dry and the dessert we originally came
for was no longer served (The Seven Seas Spectacular). |
Service Review: |
The service here was terrible.
Originally, we had planned on dining at Victoria and Albert's for our
wedding anniversary (the most exquisite and expensive place of the
WDW restaurants). But after our experience at Narcoossee's- also at
the Grand Floridian- I went back to my room and called PS and
cancelled the PS for V & A and we ate at the Flying Fish a
second time.
(Quick Note: my wife read about the "Seven Seas
Spectacular" in a Birnbaum's review. Naturally being a lover of ice
cream, she asked the waitress about it. The waitress replied in a
rough tone, "Ma'am, we only have normal size desserts here," after
admittedly not knowing what the Seven Seas was. I would've expected
this type of service from a local Steak & Shake, but certainly
not a Disney CM or establishment.)

Atmosphere Review: |
We expected a nicer atmosphere. The
atmosphere was not unlike that of the Island's burger chain.
Waitresses wore floral skirts and tops. The waitresses weren't
overly concerned with our dining experience. They never came by and
we had to flag one down for a refill of our water. |
Other Comments: |
The main "gimmicks" here at that time
were the "yard of beer" they served in an old fashioned yard-style
glass complete with the wooden holder, as well as the dessert my
wife wanted but was told the chef couldn't make. It was this dessert
as our main reason for coming here in the first place. (it was a
concoction of fresh berries and ice cream that we had read
about...they had fresh berries on the menu, and ice cream. Why they
could not accommodate us I'm not sure). That one incident ruined part
of our "WDW 25th Anniversary" vacation, but we didn't let it ruin
our own wedding anniversary plans. Needless to say, we haven't dined
there again and have no plans to in the future.
