Food Review:

I dig the food, although I'm a sandwich kind of guy. I've had the burger, the club and the BBQ sandwich, and usually found the quality consistent. It isn't anything special, but I'm there for the atmosphere... and the milkshakes... more than anything else. Yes, the milkshakes are tops, in my book. Vanilla, if you please. I've never had a dessert at the Sci-Fi... usually because I've already had the milkshake. The entree portions are quite large, so I've never left hungry. I do miss the days when they gave you popcorn when you came in, however. I haven't seen that since the mid 1990s.

Service Review:

Service is quick and well themed. The servers are usually men, while the women bring you to your table. The guys are a bit on the sarcastic side, but it fits well, with the historic 'greaser' attitudes of the generation they represent.

Atmosphere Review:

Being a young man who loves cheesy science fiction, but grew up in the multiplex generation, I get a real kick out of this restaurant. Regardless of the fact that I’ve seen all the previews, numerous times, I can’t get enough. To me, it’s like a favorite attraction. ‘Pirates’ for instance… we’ve all ridden POC numerous times, but as we’re making our way through Adventureland, we still stop in to take the ride. That’s the Sci-Fi, for me. The dim lighting, the cars, the stars twinkling at 2PM, the waiters shouting, “Glen! We want to help you to get well! Ahhhhh!” in perfect sync with the film… I just love it. Sigh… I pity the poor woman who marries me.

Other Comments:

I’m a fan of good cheese, cinematic rather than provolone. So the Sci-Fi Dine In is one of my favorite spots in all of Disneydom. I’ve eaten there numerous times, and brought friends, whom I know would appreciate the theme. I would not, however, bring my mother here. She simply wouldn’t enjoy it. I think you need to have a certain sentimentality for the 1950s, or for cheesy film, to appreciate the experience. Weight your decision hard. If you like to converse while you eat, choose another spot. If you value a fantastic meal, before ambiance, definitely choose another spot. But if you're the slightest bit adventurous, don't be afraid of the Sci-Fi.
