Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin

Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin is the Toontown attraction with the most appeal for adults. Riders control the rotation (most of the time) of the cabs used in this ride, allowing guests to spin around while travelling through the Toontown seen in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?. The queue rivals that of Indiana Jones Adventure for twists, turns, and theming.

  • Location: To the right as you enter Toontown.
  • Date Opened: January 26, 1994
  • # of Ride Units: 9 operating, 2 additional.
  • Ride Capacity: Each cab unit can hold two adults, and they're continuously loaded.
  • Restraint Method: Lapbar and vehicle door.
  • Boarding Information: Around the bottom of the vehicles is a safety skirt. Skirt was added after the 2000 incident to restrict items from passing under vehicles. Contact with this skirt while vehicle in motion will cause ride system to emergency stop. It does not stop ride if contacted in loading area, but if not back to original shape (dent or pressure dimple) when leaving the station, an emergency stop may occur.

Time Commitment Information - Hide Section
  • Open/Close: Opens and closes with Toontown, which is usually later and earlier than the rest of the park.
  • Wait Times: The standby line for Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin can get very long, frequently more than 40 minutes. Riding early or late in the day will find much shorter lines. Use of Fastpass is strongly recommended.
  • Length of Ride: 3 minutes, 30 seconds.
  • FastPass: Yes.

  • Queue Description: The attraction has a very elaborate queue that will be mostly missed by using Fastpass, so fans of themed queues should use the standby line at least once. Though not interactive, the details of the queue include Jessica Rabbit's dressing room and eavesdropping on the weasels hatching a plan for misadventure.
Access Information - Hide Section
  • Health Restriction: If you don't spin the car, it is just a general dark ride and should be fine for people with just about any condition. Guests with back, neck, or other conditions may want to avoid spinning the car. The queue and attraction use smoke effects that bother some respiratory conditions.
  • Ride Access: The standard queue is wheelchair accessible. Guests on ECVs should enter through the rides exit.
  • Wheelchair Transfer: Transferring from wheelchairs and ECVs is required for this attraction.
  • Service Animals: Service animals are not allowed.
  • Audio: Audio is used throughout the ride, though it is mostly atmospheric.
  • Weight and Size Issues: The cars are large enough for any guest, particularly if seated alone.
Parenting Information - Hide Section
  • Height Restriction: No specific restriction, but infants must be able to sit up on their own and are not allowed on laps.
  • Child Swap: Approach the cast member at the entrance to the queue and request a rider switch pass. When the rest of your party exits the ride, two people can return with the rider switch pass through the Fast Pass entrance.
  • Other Issues: This ride can be a little rough for infants since they no longer allow lap sitting. The steering wheel allows spinning of the car similar to the wheel on the tea cups, though it is more limited.
History and Trivia - Hide Section
  • At this location: Until Toontown was built, this entire area was backstage. Though it didn't open for a year after the rest of Toontown, Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin is the first use of this space for the park.
  • This Attraction's history: Though the attraction hasn't changed much since it opened, it has the distinction particapting in a dark five-year-period of attraction incident that began in 1998 with a fatality at Sailing Ship Columbia and ended (so far) with a fatality in 2003 on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad). On September 22, 2000, 4-year-old Brandon Zucker fell out of the ride and became trapped under the vehicle. Though he survived Zucker he lived in a long-term care facility until his death in January 2009. The incident resulted in a long closure of the attraction so that additional safety precautions could be installed.

    • What's in a Name: Because of disagreements between the Walt Disney Company and Amblin Entertainment, the name of the cab in Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin is Lenny and not Benny, as it is in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
