Walt Disney World Tickets

Liberty Square

Liberty Square is one of the smaller lands at Magic Kingdom, but packs in the theming. Unique to Walt Disney World, Liberty Square is themed to the era around the the time of the American Revolutionary War and is more focused on telling real stories than other lands. The Hall of Presidents uses advanced audio-animatronics to represent every American president and even dining locations like Columbia Harbour House are decked out in items of historical interest.

History and Trivia - Hide Section
  • At this location: Liberty Square is an original land at the Magic Kingdom and has not changed in size since the park opened in 1971.
  • The Land's History: Change in Liberty Square has been subtle. Each of the original attractions is still present and nothing has been added over the years. The biggest change would be the loss of the Admiral Joe Fowler, Liberty Square's first riverboat. From 1973 to 1980 two riverboats plied the waters of Rivers of Amreica, but Admiral Joe Fowler was the first, debuting on October 2, 1971. Unfortunately, during a scheduled refurbishment in 1980, Admiral Joe Fowler slipped while being lifted in drydock by a crane and completely destroyed the lower hull and it never returned. In 1996 the second riverboat, Richard F. Irvine was replaced by Liberty Belle.
