Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland is one of the classic dark rides that Disneyland's Fantasyland is famous for. Based on the Disney movie of the same name, once on board your catipillar you'll travel through varoius scenes from the movie. Opened in 1958, Alice in Wonderland is the only Fantasyland dark ride built between the park's opening and the redesign of Fantasyland in 1983 when Pinocchio's Daring Journey premiered. Due to the slippery surface of a short stretch of track, Alice in Wonderland is one of the few Disneyland rides to close when it rains.

  • Open/Close: Opens and closes with the park. Rain will also cause the ride to close. Open during Magic Mornings.

  • Queue Description: The outdoor queue is a simple corral squeezed between the rides exterior and the Mad Tea Party teacups ride.

  • Wheelchair Transfer: You will need to transfer from your wheelchair or ECV into the ride vehicles. Your equipment will be moved and waiting for you when it is time to exit.

  • Audio: No assistive devices are available.
  • Weight and Size Issues: The ride vehicles are on the small side and large people may find them uncomfortable but if necessary can sit in a row alone.

  • Other Issues: The ride restraint is a bar. When a small child sits with a much larger parent, the bar will allow the child to move a bit. The end of this ride is outside on a raised platform. Parents riding with small children should keep a hand on children who may wiggle and squirm. This is probably not the best ride for kids who are easily scared or have sensory issues, as part of it is in the dark with glow-in-the-dark characters that can be scary.

  • At this location: Though the attraction did not open until 1958, it was the first use of this space.
  • The Attraction's History: Though the ride was extensively rebuilt as part of the 1984 Fantasyland redesign, it remains mostly the same as when it opened.

    • An encore gig: Kathryn Beaumont, who provided the voice of Alice in the 1951 animated feature film returned to provide the soundtrack for the ride.
