History and Trivia

  • At this location: The Journey Into Imagination pavilion opened in 1982 with a film called Magic Journeys in this location. That 70mm film traveled the world looking at things through a child's eyes. In 1986 the film was moved to the Fantasyland Theater in Magic Kingdom in order ot make room for the new Captain EO 3-D film starring Michael Jackson. Captain EO was initially successful but didn't age well and ended its run on July 6, 1994. At that time the theater was modified to add interactive elements and Honey, I Shrunk the Audience opened on November 21, 1994.
  • The Attraction's History: Honey, I Shrunk the Audience remains essentially unchanged since it opened in 1994.
  • Other Trivia:
    • Sponsors: Kodak has sponsored the Imagination pavilion since it opened in October 1982.
