This traditional event began at Disneyland in 1958, where it continues to this day. When Magic Kingdom opened in 1971 Florida continued it as well and in 1994 it moved over to Epcot. The event is a reading of the biblical Christmas Story by a celebrity narrator, backed by a 50-piece orchestra and a 400-voice massed choir.
Dining Packages: To get reserved seating for one of the readings you should participate in one of the meal packages. Lunch packages are $32.99-$53.99 ($12.99-$17.99 for children) and dinner packages are $49.99-$64.99 ($15.99-$26.99), with price depending on restaurant . The participating restaurants are Biergarten, Rose & Crown, Le Cellier (lunch only), Coral Reef, Nine Dragons, San Angel Inn, Restaurant Marrakesh, Teppan Edo, Tokyo Dining, Chefs de France, Tutto Italia, Via Napoli, La Hacienda de San Angel (dinner only), and Garden Grill (dinner only). and restaurants options include all of those for lunch plus Garden Grill. Included in your package will be an appetizer, entree, dessert, non-alcoholic drink, a seat at the Processional and access to a reserved fireworks viewing area.
Narrators - Unlike Disneyland which only does a few performances, the five-week, nightly schedule means many narrators are used each year, most doing two or three consecutive nights. Narrators can not be guaranteed and are subject to last minute changes. The 2011 narrators announced are:
