These trolleys are reproductions of the famous "Red Cars" of the Pacific Electric Railway. That transportation system reached its peak in the 1920s when it connected Los Angeles, Orange County, and other surrounding areas in the era before major freeways. For Disney fans outside of Los Angeles, this system may be most famous for its involvement in the story of Who Framed Roger Rabbit in which a conspiracy against the system was a major plot point.
