The Nightmare Before Christmas Event
Sue Kruse tells you all about about the Haunted Mansion Holiday ride, but only if you want to read about it

ONE | TWO

And Sally holds a lovely Christmas tree that dissolves into twigs.

The portraits that follow you no matter where you stand are decked in holiday garb and as you round the bend into the doom buggy loading area, you will see dozens of candelabras light your way.

Against the normally empty wall in the loading area, now stands a giant Christmas card that reads, Merry Christmas, or does it? The Mayor of Halloween Town holds up the card with his happy face showing, but suddenly he is filled with anxiety, and his face spins around to the frightened side.

Did I read that right now? Does the card say Have a Scary Christmas? No, the mayor is smiling once again and the card reads just as I thought, Have a Merry Christmas.

As your doom buggy heads to the top of the stairs, giant packages loom, topped by a scary cat, or is it a mouse with sharp teeth? In the never-ending hallway, Jack’s trusty friend, Zero drifts to and fro, trying to fly to the gift pile of bones stacked nearby. Into the Conservatory we go to find the poor guy always pleading, "Let me out, let me out," has been packaged up for a ghostly Christmas and is being serenaded by a strange and unusual plant.

As we leave the Conservatory, we spot the Mother-plant grabbing hold of the chandeliers. A bit menacing, with those teeth, she does manage to look festive with that bright red bow as she sings her merry Christmas dirge.

Into the séance room we fly, to find Leota talking of the twelve days of Christmas with giant Tarot cards floating overhead.

The Ballroom has not been left out of the festivities, while the dancers still dance, a gigantic tree, filled with pumpkin lights shines. The dining table has been properly set and the mantle decked with the most glorious of jack o’ lanterns. Christmas packages fly in from the sled out the door.

It’s off to the attic we go. Naughty or nice, that’s what I want to know. Here we find Sandy’s list and stacks of toys. The bride’s taken up residence in some other attic. And as we slide from the attic to the graveyard below, a sudden chill takes to the air.

What’s this?

Snow.

Gone are the caretaker and his bag of bones dog, to be replaced by that jolly old Pumpkin King, Sandy Claws.

With his pumpkin- light beacon of a nose shining bright, Zero hovers nearby to light up the night.

Ahh, here we find old friends, those merry spooks who live to haunt. They’ve joined Jack and the Halloween gang in the spirit of the holiday as snow angels trumpet and singing jack o’ lanterns serenade against a snow tree filled with festive Christmas pumpkins.

It’s nearly time to leave but there are a few tricksters in store. As we round the corner...

Oogie’s boys come into view, not to be forgotten, look closely and you will see Hitchhiking Ghosts bid you adieu.

And once, where a silly old ghost followed you home, you now must contend with a sharp-toothed toy.

Last, but not least by any means, Little Leota has fled the scene. Where she once sat, Sally now resides as Sandy Claws flies off into the night against the pale moonlilght

Whatever you have planned for this season, do make every effort to see what Steve Davison and his band of elves have done to the Haunted Mansion.

It’s magical.
