The 2002 Official Disneyana Convention, appropriately titled the "Official Disneyana Mystery," has really been quite a mystery to some folks. The official Disney website for the event was still "under construction" a few days ago and readers have been asking me for help in planning their trips to avoid the crowd of ConventionEars, or to take advantage of the public day offerings.

When we first wrote about this event in March, early reports indicated that the event would be smaller than previous conventions, with fewer events and parties, no public day and maybe no auction.
The revised schedule of events has been released, and it looks like the auction and public day survived. In fact, the public day has now become a public weekend, open to all Epcot day guests as well as ConventionEars.
For those interested in avoiding the crowds, stay away from Epcot that weekend. If you want to see what Disneyana is all about, the public events look like a great deal. An updated, tentative itinerary is listed below. Event registrations are still being accepted, although the Random Selection Process forms have already been processed. If you register now, you'll have last pick of the event-exclusive merchandise.

Packages
Individuals can purchase tickets to the convention only, or take advantage of event and room packages at either Disney's Port Orleans Resort or Disney's Yacht and Beach Club.
Packages include admission to the events, theme park tickets valid August 22nd - 24th, and two-night accommodations. WDW Annual Passholders can deduct $60 from these rates:
