|Mother's Day at Disneyland: Dining Options II - 5/08/01|
ONE / TWO
In yesterday's column, I told you about the Mother's Day meal options you'll find at the Disneyland Resort Hotels, and inside the parks. However, that's only half of the story. The Downtown Disney restaurants are also ready to tempt your mom with a variety of special menus and special events. From a Gospel Brunch to dinner and a game, there's something sure to delight your mom.
All of the following restaurants are located within Downtown Disney District. After brunch, you can take mom shopping at any of the many shops, or stop for a movie at the new AMC theaters. For more information on Downtown Disney, be sure to read my two-part series. Part One / Part Two
If your mom is a basketball fan, look no further. ESPN Zone is not offering anything in the way of a Mother's Day brunch, but you can bring mom to watch the NBA Playoff game between the Lakers and the Kings. While there is no cover charge listed, MousePlaneteers Alex and Lani added:
(We) unintentionally ate at ESPN during a Lakers playoff game. While the studio side was operating as normal, the bar side was requiring a minimum order of $20 / person. This, presumably, allowed you to keep the seat for 2 1/2 hours even once you were done eating. On the other side they were showing the game, but they would probably usher you out if you tried to sit there for two hours. Don't know if they would be doing this again

Y Arriba Y Arriba
Mother's Day Brunch - with a Latin flair! The brunch menu offers a choice of one entree, two side dishes, and one dessert for $19.95. Menu selections from past menus have included entrees such as Argentinean churrasco (skirt steak marinated in a traditional sauce made from vinegar, olive oil, garlic and parsley); Chilean corvina (Chilean sea bass served with a hearty stew of cranberry beans, corn and squash); Cuban lechon (roasted pork with mojo sauce); and an adobo-seasoned chicken dish from the Republic Dominica. Side dishes include a variety of beans, rice, corn cakes, and fried tubers and roots. For dessert, you'll could be tempted with flan, Venezuelan sponge cake, or a traditional churro with hot chocolate sauce. The menu is subject to change, and an assortment of appetizers are also available. Brunch is served from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
If you choose to dine later in the evening, you can enjoy the nightly Latin entertainment. For Mother's Day, the restaurant is presenting the 8-piece Y Arriba Y Arriba orchestra, complete with a cast of 24 dancers. Entertainment begins at 7:00 p.m.

A strolling jazz trio will entertain Mom, while the complimentary rose is sure to make her feel special. A souvenir jacket, containing Polaroid photos of your family, will be presented to each mom as a special memento. If you visit in the evening, the house band will entertain you, starting at 6:30.
