A little bird slipped the above card into my hand yesterday, as I went about my shopping at Disneyland. Opening it up, I was thrilled to see that it was an announcement card for the First Disney's California Adventure Park Merchandise Event. You should be receiving your invite card in the mail this weekend. Until then, here's a sneak peak at the fun awaiting you on January 19, 2001:

Join us in a Special Celebration and Preview of Disney's California Adventure Park

The Event Will Include:
* Admission into Disney's California Adventure park (Event Evening Only) 
* Scavenger Hunt through Disney's California Adventure park
Panel Discussion with Imagineers & Artists who created Disney's California Adventure park
* Opportunity to Purchase Exclusive Disney's California Adventure park Merchandise
* Limited-Edition Commemorative Gift

We have assembled Imagineers and Artists who will discuss the history and creation of Disney's California Adventureœ park and the Disneyland¬ Resort

Panelists will include:

Tickets for this Adventurous Evening are $85 per person - $65 for Premium Annual Passholders (The $65 ticket price for this event is applicable ONLY when presented in conjunction with the valid Premium Annual Passport.) Tickets limited to availability

Tickets will be available beginning Monday, December 18, 2000, at 9:00 a.m. (Eastern Standard Time) Editorial Note: That's 6:00 a.m. Disneyland time - better set your alarms! Please call Walt Disney Event Services at (866) 247-1203 - A "wish list" for event merchandise will not be taken for this event.

Who's going with me? I am REALLY looking forward to this. As someone who has yet to participate in a Minnie's Moonlight Madness event, I've thought that Disneyland was really missing a major opportunity to hold a customer version of this popular Cast event. Look at the number of private events, like MouseAdventure, which are held at the park each year. There is obviously a market for this type of event, especially in the new park!

It doesn't look like there will be a meal served, which is great. We'll get the chance to explore all of the new restaurants at DCA. I am dying to finally eat Chinese Food inside a Disney Park, but it's going to be really hard to choose from all of the great restaurants I keep hearing about. 

Note to the foods department: If you have not already decided what you're going to do, why not have a restaurant hopping / tasting set up? Sell "sampler" tickets, and let us munch our way across the park. Something like this was attempted at the Light Magic Preview party, but it was too small to handle the crowds. You guys could really do it right!

I still have some unanswered questions, and I hope to get more details this week. First, 6:00 a.m.? What were you thinking?! Second, of course, is how will the merchandise be handled? I understand that the current plan is to send a catalogue out with the tickets, and require you to place your orders before the event, as was done with the recent Divas Event. However, it does not look as if there will be different merchandise available AT the event, as there was at Divas. Something about not having the space to display and sell it?

I'd also like to know if we are supposed to form teams, as is done at the Cast Events. Or, will this be a solo scavenger hunt. Are there prizes???? Heck - if this is a scavenger hunt at a Brand New park, I might even have a chance against our resident Disney Trivia Diva Fab. Well, probably not, but it was a nice thought...

As I get more details, I'll be sure to share them here. And, even if I DO have to order tickets at O:Dark:Hundred, this is going to be a blast. I hope to see a lot of you there!!
