A reminder and more gossip: Today is THE DAY to call and order your tickets
to the DCA Scavenger Hunt Event. Tickets went on sale at 9:00 am EAST
COAST TIME, which was 6:00 am for those of us on the West Coast.
On Friday, I gave you a sneak peek at the merchandise for this event,
to help you decide if you wanted to get tickets today. I've learned a
few more details since then, and wanted to give you an update. I already
told you about the 3 T-Shirts, 1 Sweatshirt, 3 Pins, 3 Mini-Attraction
Posters and 2 Limited Edition Lithos. In addition to this, there will
be a Denim Jacket offered.
The T-Shirts, Pins and Mini Attraction Posters will have images from
three districts and attractions: Paradise Pier / Sun Wheel, Golden California
/ Grizzly Rapids and Hollywood / Superstar Limo. The Sweatshirt will feature
the Paradise Pier / Sun Wheel graphic. The pin MAY be a cloisonnÚ, but
looked like they were enamel in the photo I saw. They are rectangular
representations of the three attraction posters.
The two Lithos will be a Limited Edition of 250 each, and will be sold
via the Random Selection Process that was used at the Divas Event.
You will order this merchandise from an order form which will arrive
with your tickets. Quantities will be limited per item, and left-over
items will be available AT the event.
To order tickets, call Walt Disney Event Services at 866.247.1203. (Tell
them MousePlanet sent you!) And, I'll see you there!
Some gossip you may have missed from this weekend:
I was talking with someone about this event, and mentioned that I had
noticed that Walt Disney World Event Services was running it, as they
did the Divas Event. The reply: "Get Used to It". One of the
things I recall from the Divas Event was how many of the merchandise mix-ups
were blamed on the Florida Event Staff, and how few of them there seemed
to be. I know that I heard several people say "We need a Florida
Person to handle this, and we can't find one". Yikes! Why are we
doing this to ourselves again?
We were also discussing the merchandise, or lack thereof, and the return
of the Random Selection Process. I don't understand the concept of asking
us to "reserve" merchandise that we've never seen, in the hope
that our number will be chosen to have the opportunity to buy the item
(if we like it once we see it) Look at how much of the Divas Event merchandise
was unsold after that event, and is still on display in Disneyana. And
then look at how many people said that they would have liked to have purchased
some of the items if they had known in advance how NICE they would be.
It's a strange system, but Disney seems to like it.
As for the comparatively limited merchandise at this event: well, a lot
of people complained that there was too much expensive stuff at the Divas
Event, and that they wanted more, less expensive items. T-Shirts and Pins
definitely fit the "under $50.00" criteria, but they are hardly
exciting. I LOVE that there will be Attraction Posters, but only THREE?
How many attractions are there in this park, anyway? (No comments, Al!)
All told, I'm not thrilled about the Merchandise at this Merchandise
Event. But, before you decide to sleep in on Monday, let me say one more
thing... remember that surprise item that we were offered the chance to
buy at the Divas Event? Well... - apparently THAT sold well. And you know
what happens when something makes the Mouse money......And, remember that
really COOL gift we got on the way out?..... Plus, I wouldn't miss
a Scavenger Hunt through a BRAND NEW park BEFORE it opens for ANYTHING.
