Spring Arrives at the Disneyland Resort |

Tuesday, March 25, 2003 To mark the start of Spring, horticulturalists at the Disneyland Resort each year plant vibrant blooms and fresh greenery to complement the naturally occuring explosion of bright blossoms and foliage among the park's many trees. It's no wonder that this is the favorite season for many Disneyland Resort regulars. Join us as we take a tour around the park to enjoy some of the prettiest sights around the resort.
One of the most widely recognized pieces of flowerwork in all of Disneyland Park is this Mickey Mouse in the entry area of the park. Since the area is always crowded, one of the best times to capture an unobstructed photo of this familiar shot is to just aim your camera between the bars of the center gate well before the official opening of the park.
Even from the Disneyland Railroad platform, the foliage is so thick that Sleeping Beauty Castle is barely visible at the far end of Main Street, USA.
Beautiful flowers are not limited to exterior areas in the park. The China Closet on Main Street is decorated with spring flowers, white lights, and painted eggs.
Beds of pansies and daffodills trim the edge of many of the grassy areas along Main Street. Although the unseasonably warm spring weather caused many of these flowers to wilt and burn, Disney workers replanted the beds to keep the flowers fresh and bright.
The Partners statue is framed with a burst of bright pink blossoms, making it an even more popular subject for countless snapshots.
Although the rose arches above the Storybook Land Canal Boats are not yet in bloom, the nearby trees are already showing off their colors.
The trellis above Mr. Toad's Wild Ride in Fantasyland welcomes visitors, as the newly reopened Matterhorn stands in the background.
Bougainvillea and cactus provide the main foliage theme around Big Thunder Mountain.
Bright desert flowers thrive in the planters around Rancho del Zocalo restaurant in Frontierland.
Tree branches, thick and full with bright green leaves, lend a look of an authentic jungle for Tarzan's Treehouse.
Residing peacefully in the shadows of Sleeping Beauty Castle in Fantasyland, Snow White's Grotto truly lives up to its name as lush foliage dripping with leaves cascades along the waterfall.
Orange trees frame the entrance to Tomorrowland.
The planters around Tomorrowland are filled with edible plants, including sage, basil and rhubarb.
A full-sized Mickey topiary welcomes guests to the Disneyland Hotel. Behind the topiary is the hotel's Neverland pool area, as both are sandwiched between two of the hotel's towers.
The wedding gazebo at the Disneyland Hotel looks particularly charming with the extra greenery.
