| Oo la la! A look at Disney in France |
| Main Street Overview |
|
Main Street is your first introduction to the Magic Kingdom, it's the one and only way to enter the park. Patterned after its counterpart in California, it is intended to immerse you in the Disney spirit, and put you in the proper mood. While there are few thrilling attractions on Main Street, you should spend a little time here anyway. The street itself is the attraction, with careful attention paid to details that seem to transport you back in time.
One interesting note is that this Main Street is not geared to the turn of the century as the Main Street's in California and Florida are. For Europe, the era most associated with the United States is the jazz era of the 1920's, the age of the flapper. It is thus this mood that Main Street Paris is geared towards. It is also unique to Disneyland Paris that the premium hotel, The Disneyland Paris, is built right up against the edge of Main Street. Guests enter the park from the back doors of the hotel,. and those staying there can look out onto Main Street from their hotel balconies. As in the rest of the park, maintenance is a matter of pride along Main Street, with white jacketed street sweepers popping out to clean up trash and other messes (left by the horses) almost as soon as they hit the ground. Currently Main Street is also home to the world famous Main Street
Electrical Parade, presented nightly during busy seasons and on weekends during the rest
of the year. |
