Haunted Mansion
Disneyland is a show.
- Walt Disney
From Disney A to Z "The Official Encyclopedia" by Dave Smith:
[Under the listing for] Haunted Mansion: ... From the outside the mansion looks elegant; some designers wanted it to look ominous and scary, in a state of disrepair, but Walt Disney said he would keep up the outside and let ghosts take care of the interior.
T. Irby, the guy in charge of keeping the park up thinks that he should only paint the first floor of the Haunted Mansion since "people won't notice anything else." Hate to tell you this T. - but people do notice, and it does look pretty bad since you no longer keep the Mansion up.
Here's what visitors now see while waiting in line now in the queue at the Mansion on the South side of the house:

Sure, wood rot and shutters falling off look spooky - but that
wasn't the original idea. And just what would happen if one of those
rickety shutters fell onto a visitor in a freak gust of wind? Once the
lawyers see how in disrepair they keep the place, that's a lawsuit that the park
can't stop.

They no longer paint past the first floor - the higher up you
get, the worse the surface looks.

Moldings are rotting, gutters and siding have their paint
peeling. Neglect such as this increases costs further down the line IF
they should decide to rehab this.

Broken window shades only add to the squalor. Hey
Cynthia - why let this look so bad?
On the NEXT PAGE let's take a look at more Haunted Mansion problems and take a peek at New Orleans Square while we're at it.
