Tokyo Disneyland Guide

Tokyo Disneyland was the first Disney theme park built outside the United States. It is also the only park not directly operated by Disney, it is instead run by Japanese companies through a joint licensing agreement with Disney.

There were, however, some special considerations to be made. Japanis not exactly the Arctic, but it is considerably more gray than sunny Florida and California. With nearly 1/2 of the year spent under cloudy skies, adjustments had to be made.

Besides the glass canopy over World Bazaar, more coat rooms were built, the attractions were designed with more covered areas, and so on.

There is also a lighter air to the park, with more of a fantasy touch to each of the lands. Like the other Magic Kingdoms, this one is laid out like a wheel. One of the unique things about TDL is that the various lands are not accessed by the central hub, but instead by a series of paths that branch off of the Main Street.

When you visit Tokyo DisneySea, you will experience seven ports of call, each a vastly different setting of time and place with its own distinct flavor.

You may stroll through a quaint southern European port town. Discover mysteries on the ocean floor and at the center of the earth. Visit a whimsical underwater kingdom. Wander through a bustling Arabian bazaar. Explore ancient ruins in the rain forest of Central America. Drop anchor in a fantastic futuristic port. Journey through historic waterfronts of early 20th Century America. Each of the lands promises new thrills and adventures.
