| Konnichiwa! A look at Disney in Japan |
| Tomorrowland Overview |
|
Tomorrowland has always been the most difficult for the Disney imagineers to maintain. After all, when the first Disneyland opened, it was 2 years before the first space launch, so the idea of travel to the planets was futuristic indeed. With technology advancing so quickly, it has become nearly impossible to present a prediction of the future, so the outlook is more a vision of the future in the abstract, along the lines of Jules Verne and H.G. Wells. Along with the standard rides like Star Tours and Space Mountain, Tokyo persents a voyage through the history of Japanese culture in Meet The World. It's a unique view of the history of Japan through the eyes of the Japanese, and is often said to be a learning experience for foreign visitors. Tomorrowland also offers a couple of shows. Once Upon A Mouse is a musical variety show at the Showbase. It is unique because tv camera capture shots of audience members which are shown on large tv screens. Cosmic Cruising Band is a band which offers nightly performances at the Tommorowland Terrace Stage. |
