Tokyo Disneyland Guide

There are several issues to consider. It is likely most readers will be flying to Japan,  you have not only the cost of the plane flight, but also possibly the cost of a rental car. You also need to figure out costs for food, hotel, souvenirs, and park admission. If you plan to go to other places in Japan, figure on extra costs there.  Obviously the overall costs will vary, but here are some ideas:

• Food costs will vary greatly depending on your dining style. When my sister and I head down to Disneyland, we usually manage to keep costs at $25-$30 a day per person. But this is because we are trying to economize most of the time and are willing to eat fast food meals. If you want to eat table service meals most of the time, then you should probably double the estimate. You will also need to factor in exchange rates, which may also add to costs.
  
• Hotel costs depend on how nice of a room you want to have and how many people are with you (like you didn't know that already). Staying at the semi-official hotels will run at least $200 per night, but there are many very nice hotels that cost less than half of that.  Hotel packages may include park admission, so consider this in your pricing.
  
• Souvenirs can really add up. I do think it is a good idea to budget for souvenirs so that you have an idea of what you are going to allow yourself to spend. When selecting purchases, keep in mind that most of these items can be purchased at the local Disney store, so try and get things that are unique to your trip.
  
• Rental car considerations are discussed elsewhere in this planning guide, but if you decide to rent one, figure on $150 a week at minimum.
  
• Park admission is also discussed elsewhere, but figure on an average of $25-$30 per day per person, depending on what type of pass you get.
  
• While these costs are in dollars and based on average exchange rates, keep in mind that a drop in the value of the dollar can cause these prices to rise.
