Konnichiwa! A look at Disney in Japan

TOKYO DISNEYSEA (continued)
(DAY 1 - TUESDAY, 1/29/01 - continued)

BACK

TOKYO DISNEYSEA

Our seventh ride of the day was to sample the Transit Steamer Line. This is DisneySea’s version of the Disneyland Railroad, with large, covered motor boats circling the waterways of the resort and providing transport for those who want some rest from walking. The boats stop at Lost River Delta, Mediterranean Harbor, and American Waterfront.

TOKYO DISNEYSEA

Just like the Electric Railway, and the Big City Vehicles in American Waterfront, you can only ride the Transit Steamer Line to the very next stop, where you must disembark and re-board if you want to travel farther. Also, since you’re directly on the water, it is often cold and windy on the boats. The views are somewhat interesting, but do not differ much from views you can get from any of the many walkways in the park, so we only rode once just to try it out.

We then decided to investigate Fortress Explorations, which can be compared to Tom Sawyer’s Island at Disneyland.

TOKYO DISNEYSEA

This is a large castle-like complex with a large Columbia-style sailing ship docked beside a Mediterranean village, with all kinds of stairs, passageways and rooms that can be climbed and explored.

You can even explore below decks on the ship.

There’s also a nice, more upscale restaurant called Magellan’s in the center of the Fort (we didn’t eat here but peeked inside, shown below, to admire the exquisite exploration theming).
