Konnichiwa! A look at Disney in Japan
Special: A look inside the new Tokyo DisneySea park!
THIS SECTION: ONE | TWO | THREE

Mermaid's Lagoon, continued

Here we approach the entrance - don't worry about the ropes, we'll be let right in. :) The nicest detail in this is the use of water, which splashes all over the nooks and crannies in the entryway. Mermaids like it damp you know.

Now here's a much more regal way to treat King Triton - as the entry hall icon for the attraction. Notice the bubbling water walls behind him - a nice touch.

Looking closer into the above shot, we can see both a proclamation...

...and the King himself. Beautiful detailing isn't it?

Now lets take a look inside! Notice the reflective ceiling? That's just the water's surface, as you are below! Look at all the wonderful detailing in every area.

A peek into the background of the above shot shows Fastpass for the Blowfish Balloon Race ride...

And here is the Blowfish Balloon Race ride up close. Note the fence work and even the trashcan. You can understand why the comparison to Fantasyland is quite accurate - although these may be simple carnival rides, they have that Disney touch in detailing that was ignored in the new Anaheim park (more on this in a moment).

A look into the above shot shows the detail in the area - from the lamposts to the wall treatments. Even the lighting is beautifully done. It really takes you into another environment doesn't it?
