Mummy Returns Chamber of Doom ...and more
Universal Studios Holllywood opened their new Mummy Returns - Chamber of Doom attraction, so we made a visit to see what was going on. Plus we have some additional photos of upcoming things and a few changes around the park. Before you arrive into the park proper, you can see (below) that they still have a display up in CityWalk of the Scorpion set piece from the new Mummy movie outside the cinemas... very impressive.
Universal takes great pains in their signage to explain the attraction may be a bit scary for younger kids (below). This is actually a pretty good idea, considering they also added the new kid friendly Nickelodeon Blast Zone recently.
The attraction is set up as a maze - which Universal has also done in the past for Chicken Run and Grinch. Below you can see the main entrance.
One of the neat things they do is feature props used in the making of the film - from a car parked outside...
...to actual smaller props and set pieces used.
Below you can see Brendan Fraser's guns...
...and the timer used to determine how much longer Alex had to live...
...and (below) the books of the dead and living. It's always interesting to see just how much detail is put into these props - and how real they look by comparison on screen.
If you've seen the movie, you don't want to play around with these little urns below too much...
...and this little set piece below is seen at the end. But we won't spoil it for you.
