Disney Stars and Motor Cars Parade |
The Disney-MGM Studios theme park has put together a terrifically fun parade that not only celebrates the Disney characters but also takes some good-natured pokes at those stereotypical Hollywood movie premieres. The Disney Stars and Motor Cars Parade is a whimsical twist on parades that feature celebrities waving from convertibles. Each vintage-car float has been converted into a representation of a movie or television show. Parade Viewing Tip: Streetmosphere players are stationed along the parade route and act as emcee/announcers. On the day we viewed the parade, the pre-show entertainment mentioned below was in front of the Sounds Dangerous attraction. Get there at least 30 to 45 minutes early for a front row seat. Our Streetmosphere player is the famous Italian director, Al Dente.
Al Dente, who claims to be the director of "The Good, The Bad, and My Ex-Mother-In-Law" warmed up the audience with jokes and quizzed everyone on Disney trivia.
Motorcycle police soon roared by. The press release for the parade describes them as "1940s-era escort cops" but those outfits sure looked a lot like Imperial storm troopers!
Keeping in line with the current Disney tradition of including park visitors in its parades, the first car features a family chosen from the audience.
As the parade passes by, Al Dente announces the arrival of each car and its famous occupants. One of the nicer touches for Disney Stars and Motor Cars is that as each car comes by, the parade music score segues to the theme for that movie. The cast of Toy Story II is first up.
The car has been modified to look like Andy's bed, complete with Buzz Lightyear bedspread.
Oh it's a jolly holiday with Mary!
Miss Piggy and Kermit grace us with their stellar presence.
Luke and Leia ride a land speeder disguised as an Earth convertible.
Mulan and warrior friend.
Arabian princesses announce Aladdin's arrival.
Prince Ali, fabulous he, Ali Ababwa!
But the Genie gets his own personalized license plate.
Hercules and Meg wave to the crowd.
Hades and his fellow villains plotting right behind.
Who is the mole?!
Milo and Kida from Atlantis: The Lost Empire.
Ariel in her seashell car.
Rolie Polie Olie and Bear, who brought his Big Blue House with him.
Snow White and Dopey.
Ending the parade, Goofy looking spiffy in a zoot suit and the rest of the Fab Four in a 1929 Cadillac.
