History and Trivia

  • At this location: This location has been a restuarant since the park opened in 1982. Originally it was part of the Communicore facility that, in 1993, closed to become Innoventions. When it was part of Communicore, Electric Umbrella was called Stargate and served a similar menu. It closed April 10, 1994 and was remodeled into the current design that lasted until its closure in 2020.
  • The entire east building that once was Communicore East and later Innoventions East closed for refurbishment in 2020 as part of Epcot's transformation. A small portion of the northeast building (behind the former location of Electric Umbrella) became the temporary home of MouseGear.
