Time Commitment

Open/Close: Opens and closes with the park. The ride closes during fireworks and about one hour before all parades.

Wait Times: Lines tend to be in the 30 minute range, but can be much longer on real busy days.

Queue Description: Not much of a themed queue, other than a light house at the queue entrance. Otherwise it is just a chain corral that winds in front of the loading dock.

Health Restriction: Should be fine for just about anybody.

Ride Access: Enter through the exit ramp to the left of the entrance and wait for instructions.

Wheelchair Transfer: Is is required that riders transfer from wheelchairs and ECVs. You must step down into the boat to ride. Use care when boarding and exiting this attraction. The boats are not secured and will rock as you try to board. Try to be the first to board and last to exit to minimize some of the problems.

Service Animals: Yes

Audio: The trip is a guided tour and the boat's operator will give descriptions of what you see. Assistive listening devices are available from City Hall.

Weight and Size Issues: They tend to fill the boats a bit on the tight side, but will be sure to leave room for the people riding.

History and Trivia

  • At this location: A canal ride has always been in this location, though Storybook Land Canal Boats didn't take its current form until June 1956; before that it was Canal Boats of the World. That original version didn't have much to see and wasn't very well received (part of the spiel included a promise that it would be improved in the future. In spring 1956 the ride was redesigned and miniature scenes from Disney movies and the name was changed.
  • This attraction's history: Over the years there have been many scenes added and removed from the attraction (most notably a large Agrabah from Aladdin) but in essence it remains much the same as when it was redesigned in 1956.
